We made a number of changes:
- Shrunk our pantry (which was huge) to make room for a wall oven and microwave and extra cupboards and drawers.
- Added a wine rack above the fridge.
- Specified melamine shelving and an additional appliance shelf in the pantry.
- Replaced our benchtops with Essa Stone Crystal Salt 40mm benchtops with a waterfall edge at the end of the bench.
- Added additional overhead cupboards.
Our laundry was modified to:
- Add a laminated broom cupboard
- Add overhead cupboards above where the washing machine and dryer are located
- Add a drying line spanning from the side of the overhead cupboards to the side wall.
- Replace the Clark laundry basin thing with a laminated cupboard, sink and mixer with pull-out spray. The pull-out spray mixer allows us to wash our dog in the basin.
Our bathrooms were modified to:
- Replace laminated benchtops with 20mm Essa Stone benchtops.
- Replace the basins with above-counter basins (ensuite) and inset basins (main bathroom)

Hello,
I was just wanting to comment on your decicion to locate a wine rack above the fridge. I've seen this a lot in display homes and as an amateur wine afficianado have always found it puzzling. Above the fridge is one of the hottest places in the kitchen (and the kitchen one of the hottest places in a house). If you were to keep wine above the fridge I'm sure it wouldn't take long for it to become good for little more than cooking! I'd suggest the wine rack on the chair/outside facing side of the breakfast bench, well away from the residual heat from cooking and appliances. Especially if you drink nice wine!!
Thanks for the suggestion.
You can probably tell we are not wine connoisseurs (the wine is for visitors mainly), but we've collected a lot of bottles from gifts and so forth.
From your suggestion perhaps we should keep our wine somewhere a lot cooler than the kitchen!
Hi there guys, just wondering how much more (% if you like) did it cost you to make changes to the standard EB kitchen, if you don't mind me asking ? Great website.
