You are kidding!!

We think the photo says it all - look at the gap between the rangehood and the splashback:

The rangehood has to be a certain distance from the cooktop for safety reasons. However, it looks like the instructions given by the builder to the splashback company weren't so clear (even though the plan was).

Another not-so-good repair was to the laundry window, which needed to be reglazed because the door had the wrong glass in it:

The bottom corner is not straight and the bottom frame piece is bent so much it has split at the nail.

We really are at a loss for words at this point.

Hi guys,

Have been following your blog for the past few months now and at times were quite worried what we were getting ourselves in for.

We are building the Memphis at The Ponds (near the school)and discovered your place on our wandering around the area, incidentally we think we saw you there today when we drove past your place.

I am glad to report that apart from a couple of very minor issues, such as height of windows, bi-fold door width and parapet height, our site manager Anthony has been very good and the EB Area Manager was quite effective in helping to get things sorted.

Our contact with our CSO at EB head office is all done via email and so far I can not complain as she is very prompt.

Our dealings with the salesman from EB (is now working at Wisdom homes display at The Ponds) was very, very good and we maintain friendly "Hi's" when we occassionally run into one another.

I guess we are one of the lucky ones, but having said that,we haven't made a lot of alterations so perhaps they are best at "standard" building.
Anyway, we hope to be in our place within the next 4 weeks, drop by and say Hi.

I hope that when you finally move you will be happy with your finished product.

Best of luck
Chris & Annie

That splashback mistake is definitely not acceptable!

You have a beautiful kitchen, so make sure they don't just patch it by adding a small piece to fill up the gap. They should remove the whole thing and cut a new one!

Cheers

Hi,

After 2 months of to-ing and fro-ing with Eden Brae in regards to our tender, we've decided to go with another builder (who whipped up our tender in 1 1/2 days!) WITH all of our upgrades too!
We found Eden Brae too difficult to work with, and our CSO was quite rude too, something we really weren't looking forward to dealing with for the next year and a bit of building...

Good luck with your house!

Irma.

You've paid enough for your kitchen...I can't believe they can't even get this right...it's very disappointing, for the amount of money you are spending you expect some level of professionalism. We're building a Madisson with EB and have upgraded almost everything...hoping they do it right..
